Westville matriculants are showing the rest of Durban how it’s done! Hot on the heels of Chad le Clos’ Olympic Gold is Loryn Holmes, one of the three finalists in the East Coast Radio presidential campaign.

Thirty-something Holmes is a passionate philanthropist and fan of all things KZN, ranging from her commitment as a full-blooded Sharks supporter to her deeply entrenched love of the province’s culture, weather and myriad of outdoor activities – beach, bush and Berg!
“KZN has got it all. People always think that the grass is greener on the other side but having lived in the UK and America, there is absolutely nowhere else I would rather be. The East Coast really is the FUNSUNZI province,” says Holmes.
A PR and marketing guru and event manager extraordinaire for the Hillcrest-based financial services company The Unlimited, Holmes has carved a niche for herself as a dynamic ambassador for KwaZulu Natal, while carrying the torch for early childhood development and honouring ordinary people embarking on extraordinary journeys.
“I am passionate about the children of this country and truly believe that early childhood development is the key to changing the future,” Holmes explains.
Holmes has been actively involved in the early childhood development initiative, The Unlimited Child which provides educational toys and caregiver training to underprivileged crèches in the greater Durban area. “Loryn’s professional approach, boundless energy and enthusiasm have been a driving force for The Unlimited Child. We’ve already changed the lives of over 20 000 children in nearly 300 crèches and she has been with us every step of the way,” explains Cassy Healy, CEO of The Unlimited Child.
With a lifelong philosophy of “If you can dream it, you can do it” Holmes is the ultimate ambassador for KZN and she says it would really be an honour to be President of the East Coast.
