South Africans’ attention has momentarily been distracted from the Olympics by plummeting temperatures and widespread snow, and the SA Weather Service is warning of more to come!
Social networks are abuzz with exclamations of ‘It’s snowing!’ and you don’t have to look far to find pics of the white stuff spread from Hilton to Joburg and the Cape.
The SA Weather Service (www.weathersa.co.za) warns of the following:
Very cold and windy conditions are expected over western parts of KwaZulu-Natal
Heavy rainfall is expected over the southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal
Snowfall is predicted over the high ground of KwaZulu-Natal
As for the temperatures… The mercury isn’t likely to rise above 20 degrees C until the weekend, so keep wrapped up, stay near the fire and enjoy a glass of wine or hot chocolate! Most of all, if you have to travel, be extra careful.
If you aren’t able to make it to the highlands, take a moment to enjoy our photos from around the province…
