Fresh from her hugely successful global tour, Lira returns to the Southern African stage with The Captured Tour, in association with Nokia. On 22 October, Lira will bring her soulful and inspiring music to an audience of thousands of her devoted fans at Durban’s ICC.

The Captured Tour is a homecoming of sorts for Lira, who has spent the last few months touring the world to present her album to European and American audiences. The album, a collection of “best of songs”, represents years of personal and musical growth and development that have seen Lira create a unique and memorable sound that instantly stands out from the clutter of most modern music.

Her powerfully emotive and uplifting songs will be brought to life in an unforgettable stage show. Songs from all her albums, as well as new arrangements and additions to her classics, will bring a new element of surprise not to be missed, as well as a few hidden performance collaborations with South African greats, that will captivate new and old fans alike.

“This tour will be part of the biggest DVD production ever captured on African Soil,” says Robin Kohl, DVD production head and manager. “We’re taking what we did in 2009 and doubling the scale. We are also capturing Lira’s performances through the eyes of fans at every destination, throughout the tour.

“We will find ‘super fans’ in each city who will be given tasks to film Lira, backstage happenings and gain an all-access experience as to what goes on behind the scenes in Lira’s world. This is the most powerful experience we have been able to offer fans and is the very concept behind this tour.”

Buoyed by multi-platinum sales of her two studio albums and a live DVD, a mantelpiece full of awards and the support of her fans, Lira has made no secret of her desire to find a global audience for her music. “I have big dreams,” Lira has frequently been quoted as saying – and it looks increasingly likely that this rare artist will see those dreams come true.

But as much as Lira loves touring the world, for her, South Africa is her home, physically and spiritually, and it is where she draws her inspiration. The Captured Tour is especially important to Lira and she is incredibly excited to be providing her most ardent supporters a night they will never forget.
