The Pick n Pay Taste of Durban (in association with Orbit sugar-free chewing gum), which takes place at Suncoast from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 July 2012, is destined to be the culinary event of the year.
Over three days, this unique international restaurant festival will bring together the city’s most acclaimed restaurants, prestigious chefs and carefully selected premium exhibitors to attract Durban’s most dedicated and sophisticated foodies in an outdoor fine dining celebration.
Taking part in the inaugural show are Café 1999, Hartford House, 9th Avenue Bistro, Havana Grill, Little Havana, Jewel of India, Simply Asia, Versailles and Max’s Lifestyle Tavern.
Taste is an unforgettable experience of what can only be described as foodie heaven and is widely considered as ‘the world’s greatest restaurant festival’.
Starting with the Taste of London in 2004, the Taste Festival phenomenon has spread to the most fashionable cities worldwide and set a new global benchmark for food and drinks, with 16 Taste Festivals (including Cape Town and Johannesburg) and now Durban (the 17th), hosted internationally.
Taste of Durban brings together eight of Durban’s top restaurants and chefs to serve the fabulous, trend-setting signature dishes that have made them so popular with foodies and critics alike. This impressive list of participating restaurants and their exceptional chefs guarantees that there is something sensational for every palate.
Added to the extraordinary line up of chefs you’ll also have the opportunity to sip and sample an array of the very best of wine, beer, cocktails and delicious foodie produce Durban has to offer whilst you shop your way around the festival.
Celebrate Durban’s local food heroes at The Small Producers Market or take a walk through the Taste & Buy Experience and discover a mouth-watering array of gourmet food suppliers.
Justine Drake, Taste Festival Director says: “Taste of Durban provides the perfect opportunity to showcase the talents of our local chefs. It promises to be a wonderful day or night out to tantalize your taste buds and delight your other senses too. With the success of Taste of Joburg and Taste of Cape Town over the last six years, we have no doubt that Durban is in for a treat!”
