What a year this is turning out to be for Durban foodies! Taste of Durban, Flavours of Durban, and now Mercury Wine Week has started at Suncoast Casino and Resort.

Wednesday night was humming from the time the doors opened at 5.30 pm. There were familiar faces from the world of food… Billy Budd from the Prawn Shack, Danny Acutt and more. Wine lovers from far and wide picked their favourite wine estates, nibbled on La Petite Ferme cheeses or sushi and caught up with friends.
The atmosphere was convivial, with some of the choice farms represented, including Klein Constantia, Meerlust, Diemersdahl (who featured the most delicious, flinty, fruity Sauvignon Blanc I have tasted), Spier and Tokara.
Tickets are R100 on the door, and the exhibition is open until 8.30pm on Thursday and Friday evenings. Drive safely or, better still, take a cab!
