Beautifully designed to fit in with its natural surroundings, Rhino River Lodge is a small, intimate lodge with so much to offer – including the big five – in the heart of the Zululand bushveld.

From the moment you arrive, you’re spoilt with superb, friendly service from attentive staff. Our stay started with sundowners on the deck overlooking the Msunduze River. The stunning view – framed by magnificent fever trees and sycamore figs – was all we needed to unwind.
A mouthwatering five-star candlelit dinner followed in the boma, complete with crackling campfire, and outside the full moon rose lazily in the sky while casting a magical light over the bushveld. Too good to be true! We knew we were in for a very special weekend.
Game drives are offered in the morning and evening under the expert guidance of rangers and, if you’re a hardened city slicker, then be prepared for some awesome sightings. Even seasoned bush enthusiasts won’t fail to be inspired.
Lions rustling through the dry grass alongside the open vehicle; a magnificent cheetah surveying the grassland, rhino grazing an arm’s length away – you can’t get closer to the wild. Coffee and rusks or sundowners and snacks are served on the three-hour drives, stopping at selected sites where you can walk around and “take in” the surrounding beauty.
Part of a 23 000 hectare conservancy, the Rhino River Lodge is where you’re guaranteed an exclusive experience away from masses of people and queues of vehicles hustling for the best view. The lodge can accommodate a maximum of 20 guests in its comfortable, well-appointed units, featuring all the necessary amenities.
One of the real advantages of this lodge is that it’s an easy drive from Durban. So if you want to get away from it all, book a couple of days at the Rhino River Lodge – it’s well worth it!
