Sixteen people sustained various injuries this morning when their vehicle was involved in a collision on the M13.
It is understood the majority of the people were sitting on the back of a small flatbed vehicle when the vehicle apparently crashed into a side barrier, throwing the people on the back onto the road near the Gillitts off-ramp.
Paramedics that arrived on the scene found one person with fatal injuries and another with critical injuries. Paramedics noticed that the man with critical injuries quickly deteriorated and initiated Advanced Life Support treatment. A Medical Helicopter was called to airlift the man from the scene.
The remainder of the patients were all treated on the scene before being transported to various hospitals in the area.
The exact cause of the collision is not yet known and will be investigated.
